Hi all,

So, as you all know probably, the new nether update has been released consisting of new mobs, biomes and structures. I don't know if it would ever be possible to add, but if it is, here is my idea:
- Everyone spawns in a little glass cage with stone tools. The glass cage would be to make sure the player wouldn't suffocate in a block.
- Instead of the Depth Strider III enchantment, it would be cool to have the Soul Speed III or the Frost Walker II (for magmablocks) on the leather boots.
- Everyone gets 16 starter steak
- I am not sure if this would be good, but I would like to have a Stone Sword as well, as the Nether is way more hostile than the Overworld.

Meetup would either be in the Overworld to make sure no one dies because they spawned in lava, or in a set arena. Maybe Nether Fortress chests could be modified to contain apples, making it possible to craft gapples.

As I said before, I don't know if it's possible. I would definitely play this though, as it would be a real challenge!

Cool idea, but how would you get armour? I guess the only way would be to get gold armour!

I'm not going to lie, I am already working on a Nether UHC game mode for 1.16.1.

I have two ideas in mind.

1st idea:
Game starts in the nether. Players get teleported to "safe locations" (empty locations without lava/magma blocks/fire underneath) in the nether and give players Resistance/Fire Resistance for 60 seconds at game start. Players are able to go to the overworld to find iron/diamonds.

2nd idea:
Game starts in the overworld where players can get basic resources, but they must go to the nether before a certain time (10-15m?) otherwise they'll get like permanent wither effect until they go to the nether.


About meetup, it can be done on the nether's bedrock roof. Maybe at 30 minutes into the game.

I prefer the first idea because I usually just get iron in a game but never diamonds and you would also have to find lava to make obsidian, which can only be mined with a diamond pickaxe. Also with idea 1, would portals spawn in the nether and overworld so that we dont have to make them ourselves?

I don't think you can make obsidian in the nether. Good luck finding water in the nether... and I'm fairly sure it placing water would make it evaporate! The "vanilla" way to get obsidian is by bartering with piglins, finding ruined portals, or nether fortress chests.

I've done a lot of research in the past few days. There are several issues with the whole Nether UHC that I still haven't 100% sorted out.

I feel like sending players to the overworld for resources would undermine the whole point of the Nether UHC game mode: playing an entire game in the nether.
Players objective at the beginning of the game would be to find a way to go to the overworld, and then proceed to play the rest of the game in the overworld, like other game modes.
I think it's important to keep the entire gameplay into the nether. So, the overworld won't be accessible.


Players can get wood from Crimson and Warped stems. I wonder if those biomes are so frequent that all the generated maps will have such biomes within the border.
Blackstone is a substitute for cobblestone, so you can get wood, craft a crafting table, and then mine blackstone to upgrade to stone tools.
Gold is easily obtainable thanks to the Nether Gold Ore, and that can be mined with a wooden pickaxe too!
Apples could drop from Nether/Warped wart blocks (I know, it's a bit of a stretch... but they kinda look like "leaves"), so you'd have the necessary items to craft golden apples.

Bartering gives access to few useful items with gold ingots:
- string (so you can make a fishing rod and bow)
- spectral arrows
- iron nuggets
- potions of fire resistance
- ender pearls

Enchanting is impossible: although you have a chance of getting diamonds from a nether fortress chest, I haven't found any way to get books. You can also get enchanted books (from bartering, or loot chests in bastion remnants), but there is no way to disenchant the enchanted books because you cannot craft a grindstone. Grindstones require a stone slab, and I can't find a way to get stone slabs. So, unless I am missing something, enchanting could be "forced" by adding a custom recipe for the grindstone, replacing stone slabs with blackstone slabs. Still, enchanting would be very rare because getting diamonds in the nether is very hard (loot chests).

Brewing is impossible: although you can get bottles from drinking potions of fire resistance you get from bartering, there is no way to get water bottles. I think brewing is out of question.
