Golden Armor in Beaconwatch

This idea stems from people being able to 4-5 hit you even with a golden apple eaten with an iron sword, making it pretty easy to counter the beacon a few of the maps.
Also, leather armor to golden armor is only a 16% difference in protection for anyone wondering.

This can come from 2 ways depending on how you feel:

  1. You can craft the armor normally, which is easy to do. Or,
  2. Purchase armor through the Shop at bases. It would likely need to be inflated purchase prices, however, like 3x gold per piece of armor and 1 diamond. For example: 24x gold and 3x diamond for a golden chestplate.

Although one option is a lot easier than the other, they both take time to get instead of going for diamonds(except the ones you need to purchase for option 2) and emeralds. They difference between leather and golden armor, above, is slight but it does make a difference.

(this would also, obviously, mean that players would be able to take off armor to apply the new armor)

What about having Protection enchantments on the leather armor?

If it can go to higher than Protection 1 than it could work just as well.

How much should it cost though?

Since there won't be any new ores added, I think it should be a combination of ores then. So something like:

  • Prot 1: 8 iron, 8 gold, 2 diamonds, 2 emeralds
  • Prot 2: 12 iron, 12 gold, 3 diamonds, 3 emeralds
  • Prot 3: 18 iron, 18 gold, 5 diamonds/emeralds
  • I don't suggest going higher than 3, but if you wanted to:
  • Prot 4: 27 iron, 27 gold, 8 diamonds/emeralds
  • etc. if for some reason you wanted to go higher. It's 1.5 times more for each level.

Or you could have enchant tables for everything(armor and tools) but swords and bows, but that would require ores dropping xp and being able to take off armor. Also, Protection 1 leather isn't a big difference so it's probably not a good idea unless there is anvils. The one above is probably better, but this is an interesting option as well I guess.

Sorry, I don't plan to add enchant tables and/or anvils to the game.

Also, armor cannot be removed from your inventory, nor being crafted.
